This happens everywhere, and you have to be very wary of this one. Usually, taxi drivers will try to rip you off, and yes it happens in every country, especially when you’re a foreigner, and you can’t speak their mother language. Some of them will try to rip you off by saying that their meter is broken, while others will flatly refuse to turn on the meter. Most of the times, scammers try to scam you by saying that you’ve broke what you’ve rented, such as cars, motorbikes, or even hotel rooms. To avoid long arguments with the scammers, make sure to take pictures in front of them when you’re borrowing the car, and once you’ve returned it to them, show the image that nothing was damaged from their property. This tip is not fool-proof, but at least it’s worth to try, at least you’re not backing down so quickly.
